Lavenders of Provence
Origin
The
lavender is a flower which is generally mauve or violets laid out of ears, of
which most species, very odorous, are largely used in all the branches of
perfumery .In Provence, the lavender was used with the Middle Ages, for the
composition of perfumes and drugs, but it is from the 19th century that its
culture
The “true” lavenders push at an
altitude from 500 to 1,700 meters,on the sunny slopes of the mountains. The
quality of the lavenders is considered to increase with altitude. It is
produced in particular in Sault, and it is the agricultural main activity of zone of Vaucluse, but one also finds it in
Drome of Provence where it is very well represented.
Uses of the lavender
With the harvest of the lavender it is

Nowadays, the greatest festival devoted to the
lavender in France is celebrated since nearly 70 years at the time of the
“Corso of the Lavender” with Worthy-the-Baths and is completed by a procession
of tanks decorated with lavender.
